The district will soon be asking for your opinions. You’re welcome to give them a preview of what you’ll have to say, below in our comments section:
Highland Park ISD will invite parents to provide feedback on topics ranging from curriculum to school safety through an online survey that will be distributed via e-mail May 12.
This is the first comprehensive online satisfaction survey HPISD has conducted.
“The idea for conducting a satisfaction survey came from the Communications subcommittee that was part of our larger Strategic Planning Committee in 2006,” said Director of Communications Helen Williams. “The subcommittee included parents, teachers and district leaders who met weekly for months, brainstorming and developing a five-year plan for communications in HPISD. This survey is one of the action plans that resulted from our work.”
HPISD hired Raymond Turco & Associates, a firm with considerable experience in the field, to perform the survey.
“One of the things our parents emphasized was the importance of hiring an outside firm to ensure confidentiality,” Williams said.
“There will be no names attached to the feedback. We are using it strictly to learn how we are doing and then to take action on how we can improve.”Parents can expect to receive an e-mail from Turco & Associates on May 12 that will contain a link to Turco & Associates’ web site. Parents will receive a unique access code that will allow them to take the survey once. Parents will have from May 12-19 to complete the survey.
Turco will present the findings to the HPISD School Board at its June 10 meeting. The findings will also be made available to the public and will be posted on HPISD’s web site.“This survey will provide a benchmark for future parent satisfaction surveys, which we plan to conduct at the end of each school year,”
