As we told you last February was likely to happen, Mark Davis (pictured at left with his lovely family) has been affirmed by the congregation of Park Cities Presbyterian Church and the North Texas Presbytery to become the church’s new senior pastor. He will be installed May 11. Congratulations to Mark on his promotion.
Dear Glenn Hunter,
I hope everything is good on day number two as Kristiana’s boss. You know what they say about time healing a broken heart? Well, it’s true. Since yesterday things have gotten a lot better and we’re adjusting to life as we knew it before you snatched her cold. But it helped when I took a spin in her old cube today and realized that no one was there to use words I don’t understand and GET THIS, not one person rolled their eyes at me.
If you begin to feel super uneducated or like a bad speller or something, hang tough. She doesn’t mean to make you feel stupid.
Good luck with all that Yours Truly,
Merritt Patterson
A find by Preston Hollow reporter Austin Kilgore:
It seems that two political ads will be filmed in Dallas for Barack Obama’s campaign tomorrow. Casting was yesterday and today.
“We’re looking for diversity. One ad has around nine speaking parts and has need for 18-55 year old Caucasian, African-American, Asian/Indian/Pacific Islander, Hispanic men, women, and military.”
Sounds like a good gig…except they won’t pay you.
So a homeless-ish looking man (not that there is anything wrong with that, so you can save your hate mail) approached me in Preston Center today. He asked for some money but I felt unsafe stopping to dig through my bag yada-yada-yada. I kindly declined his offer to help him and kept walking (I really did feel bad but opted for personal safety). Anyway, he continued to follow me at close range and as I got closer to my car I was really worried so I stopped and let him pass me. He starts yelling, “Look lady I isn’t gonna rob ya, you can keep walking. If I was gonna rob ya I wouldn’t of asked for the money.”
Then I was the bad guy. I’m so NOT the bad guy here. Thoughts?

No, not really. But yesterday in the mail I got a coupon announcing that my friendly neighborhood Blockbuster Video is now open 6 a.m. to 10 a.m. and is serving a variety of fountain beverages, coffee, and tea for my pleasure.
The coupon could only be used for the Hillcrest location across from SMU (and one other out in McKinney somwhere), so I imagine they’re using it as a pilot shop. I have a hard time imagining anyone dropping by Blockbuster for a cup of morning joe. (”I’ll have a double decaffeinated half-caf, with a twist of lemon. And the Booty Call director’s cut please.”)
I haven’t been over to the Hillcrest Blockbuster in ages though, did they add a cafe area? Can anyone save me the trip?
The next chapter in the wildly popular “Face Of” series is one of the cutest Sooners ever to arrive in Dallas (not counting super reporter Cassie Clark), Krista Nightengale. And now you have a face to put with this always sweet (as far as you know) blogger. (more…)
