Mowing in the Rain

Maybe this was just an excuse from my childhood to get out of mowing the yard, but does anyone else remember the rule that you couldn’t (or shouldn’t) mow when it’s raining?  I notice PC landscapers (who used to be called lawnmowers) cutting grass right through the showers.

That is the most interesting observation and I might add news worthy piece of info you have put out ever!! Way to go. By the way they used to be called Gardeners in the Bubble!!!

To try to give a real answer: I think the only reason not to mow in the rain is that the wet grass might be more prone to clog up the blades and grass catcher. Which, as already noted, seems like a pretty tenuous reason to forego a paycheck.

The reason I was told to not mow the grass in the rain was the grass became slick and it was easy to slip and get a foot caught in the blades. I had a friend that this happened to and he had the nasty scar to show for it.

Because you can’t get a tan if it’s raining.

Hm, there were some curious responses to this post, but thanks for writing. I think I heard the one about getting grass clogged in the blades, but the slippery part makes sense, too.

Thank you for pointing out this observation. I have wondered this same thing. I agree with gmom and Tucker. They don’t mow, they don’t get paid.
