Anyone know?
Do you have any idea what’s going on at the southeast corner of Abbott and Armstrong? On the east side of Abbott, a lot or two south of Armstrong, there appears to be a small film shoot underway: lights, an eighteen-wheeler, a bunch of people standing around, etc. Also, the Highland Park police have a couple of units parked nearby, one with lights flashing and a uniformed officer standing on the corner.
Just received this concerning today’s (actually Friday’s but hit yards today) Bulletin from the Bubble, Overthinking the Camp Race. It’s not available on-line yet but it discusses a totally crazed mom I encountered while registering the kids for camp:
Merritt, I think I stood next to the same lady. Her kid will be a drug addict, beaten down from the opportunities she has provided.
Yes, as Jason said, I’m not really looking for any actual writing expertise or real estate knowledge, but I need someone fun to replace my current cube mate and become my new BFF. Qualifications include: ability to hold your liquor, sarcastic (sometimes crude) sense of humor, can handle hate mail like a champ, and don’t ever ever ever think you can replace Kristiana — you can’t.
All kidding aside, only serious writers/reporters need apply. Check out the job posting here and here, too.
Close followers of the People Newspapers jobs page will have noted that we’re trying to give away Kristiana’s job. Don’t worry — she knows about it. In fact, it’s her fault. She’ll be leaving us after next week to go pilot some ship called D CEO. It used to be called Dallas CEO, but apparently that was a bit too wordy for big-important-corporate-types.
Anyway, we’ll miss Kristiana around here — all her withering stares and sarcastic eye rolls. (I kid because I love.) (Seriously, I’ve delayed posting this message because I keep hoping she’ll come crawling back, begging to keep her job.)
If you’d like to become Stephanie’s new BFF, e-mail sfarrell@peoplenewspapers.com.
An Overheardian having trouble reading the Captcha words necessary to comment has forwarded photos asking for help- TWICE. What am I, the help desk?
I noticed that the awning over Mallies in Snider Plaza has a sign that says, “new.”
New what? I’ll need to know before I return. I haven’t gone there since I was shopping with a friend long ago and we felt like we were being followed too closely. Not like the “can I help you” follow, more like the “you’re going to steal that” follow.
An Overheadian did the math on yesterday’s post about Rogers Healy and his major success. 400 calls a day? Wow, that’s amazing.
Dear Rogers,
I’ve never seen anything close to the volume of business you’ve described but I’m not in the biz. Call me so I can watch you in action and write a column about it. This is totally my kind of topic.
Merritt
I’ve just been made aware that more Parkies visit this forum than Overheard. It can’t be true. Are there that many Park Cities residents that need 24/7 info on shooting and hunting sports? Really?
Local Real Estate blogger Jeff Duffey calls bull on rumors that he is responsible for a local agent losing the Phil Romano listing. He provides a handy timeline that plays out like a game of Clue. Who really did it? Kristiana Heap at Park Cities People, Candy Evans at D Home, Adam McGill at D Magazine? Could it be that the agent just plain lost her own listing?
I’m a bad dude. This morning, as I dropped off at Hyer my first and fourth graders, I defiantly rocked out to “Freebird” on the satellite radio in my SUV. That’s right, I don’t play by The Man’s rules.
