Exactly how rich do you have to be to say, “Hmmm, I think I’m gonna tear down that mansion on Lakeside between two other big mansions and build an even bigger mansion.”
Just curious.
Nothing says Happy Easter quite as elegantly as Parkies. This is so freaking cute but I have 2 questions:
Former Highland Park pitcher Clayton Kershaw got some pointers from the legendary Sandy Koufax recently at Spring Training.
OK, thirty and fortysomethings.
One of those 1980s nostalgia tours is rolling through Dallas on June 22. Cyndi Lauper, The B-52s, Joan Jett and the Blackhearts and K.D. Lang will be on the same bill at the Superpages.com Center (formerly Smirnoff Music Centre, formerly Coca-Cola Starplex).
Sounds like a fun show. I’ve never seen any of these bands live, but I’ve heard both Cyndi and Joan put on very solid shows. Might be worth checking out.
And for the younger demographic, Dave Matthews Band is making its annual summer trek. Dave and the boys will be at Superpages.com Center Aug. 16.
Highland Park teams will be showcasing their talents at a pair of area pro sports stadiums on Saturday.
First, the Scots baseball team will take a break from District 10-4A play by taking on Colleyville Heritage at 3 p.m. at Rangers Ballpark in Arlington.
Next, the HP boys lacrosse team will meet Memphis (Tenn.) University School at 5 p.m. at Texas Stadium as the final game of the Patriot Cup. The day will start with Episcopal School of Dallas taking on St. Mary’s of Annapolis (Md.) at 9:30 a.m. Two college games will follow — Navy vs. Holy Cross at noon, and Army vs. Rutgers at 3 p.m.
On my way to work this morning I was ridiculously happy to see a gardener raking — not blowing, but raking — leaves off the street. So kudos to you, gardener at Lakeside and Armstrong. You made us proud.
I just realized that it’s almost Easter so I better start using the cups that I was given last year around this time. I mean how often can you use such a thing?
Charles, chicks are just like that. I received this e-mail from an area mom today:
Thank you for a reminder to savor the moments. I really wasn’t expecting to have the “ugly cry” this early in the morning.
Well, Merritt, I hope you’re happy. Your column this week caused my wife to cry.
Ah, but really, it was one of your best, among so many good ones.
