A Little Bit o’ Glam

The Dallas Museum of Art League held a first glimpse cocktail party last night at The Stoneleigh Hotel. With an air of excitement, I walked up to the front and upon entering the lobby, I was immediately greeted by Elvis and a glass of champagne.

The newly refurbished Stoneleigh Hotel is all “Old Hollywood Glamour” with a twist of modern elegance. There is a definite boutique-feel, which makes the experience even more enticing. Marble floors are accompanied by muted colors and give off elegance without feeling dull. The furniture in the lobby, bar, and restaurant are cohesive and simple in whites and browns.

As I made my way to the half moon-shaped bar, I passed Cher and Mick Jagger mingling with guests. But what really caught my eye were the light fixtures above the bar and extending throughout the bottom floor into the restaurant. They varied from modern cut-outs to large, hanging crystals. These simple variations made a big impact without dismissing the old glam theme.

Moving downstairs, the spa is small and exclusive, which will definitely bring an elite crowd. Light wood floors and white walls are tranquil and relaxing- very European romance.

From the bottom to the top I went, making my way to the 11th floor that provided a breathtaking view of downtown Dallas. The striking black-and-white walls contrasted the red carpet. The finished product and the Draper penthouse will be sure to impress.

The Stoneleigh Hotel is set to open at the end of February and will please even the harshest of critiques. The history and unique architecture of this Dallas landmark will sparkle in a growing metropolitan.
