Re: Unlimited Texting is a Must

Inquiries regarding a list of the rules for the new cell phones are slowly hitting the inbox. We’re new at this, what are good cell phone rules for 9 and 10 year olds? I have one: don’t text me if I have to walk past you to pick up my Blackberry, try speaking.

Right, like there is a time when that thing isn’t right in front of you…

    I can’t tell what color flooring I like from a photo in a text. I can’t.

    I’m just saying.

    1. These phones were bought for us (mom and dad) to be able to communicate with you (the kids).

    2. You can have 2 numbers (of your friends) in your phone that are not family members or emergency numbers.

    3. Proper phone etiquitte mandates you not place phone calls after ____:00.

    4. You can text mom and dad only, and it better have the word “love” in it somewhere.

    5. If you lose it the replacement is coming out of your cash stash.

    6. For my son I add: I bought you this phone so I can take it away when you screw up; keep that in mind.

My sister, who is 10, just got a new phone, and she is not allowed to text, or use any kind of internet or music stuff, and is only allowed to call me, our parents, or her friend’s parents, or 911 I guess, but it hasn’t come to that.
