While driving carpool yesterday I saw a holiday yard decoration that says, “Seasons Greetings and Good Wells to all Mankind.” The sign was hanging on a miniature oil derrick. I realize we’re in Texas and several people are making a fortune on Barnett Shale and all but come on . . .isn’t that just a little bit tacky?
Absolutely. Why are they using the generic “Seasons Greetings” instead of “Merry Christmas?”
That’s been a Park Cities display since before most had ever heard of Barnett Shale. By now, it should probably be put in the “Park Cities Tradition” category, not “Park Cities Tacky”, which is reserved this year for the inflatables.
We do lots of things around here that could be considered tacky by some, but it’s tradition to us. How about the gigantic yellow bows all over town, many made from plactic garbage bags? Tradition. Go Scots!
Decorating with trash bags. Genius.
