This sad news just in from an HP Overheardian:

Hey -- Channel 5's weekend anchorbot just reported that a female

jogger was struck by an SUV this morning at the corner of Beverly and

Byron.  According to the report, she was thrown 30 feet and hit her

head on the curb.  No word on her condition but it must be pretty bad.

Apparently the driver was looking for a street sign.

So was that driver was there because of the detour?  If he was, there

will be absolute hell to pay in the next HP town council meeting.

A friend of a friend supposedly saw it, and was going to bring it up at the council meeting. This friend has money, and is big in society, and is really trying to bring a big group to understanding about this. I live about 3 or 4 blocks from there, and it is very crowded on Beverly.

The victim is Maureen Decherd, the wife of Robert Decherd, who is the chairman and CEO of Belo Corp.
