One More Shameless Company Promotion

I will be writing a game story late tonight following the HP-Terrell game, so those fans who want the instant information can find it on the Park Cities People main page around midnight. Our talented photographer Jeremy Chesnutt will be contributing fine photos to go with my prose.

Kristiana - I expect you to read the story when you come in from clubbing late tonight.

Kristiana - I will expect you to be one of the one listening at 6:05 on 990 AM. That’s 6:05 p.m., on 990 AM. It’s expert commentary, I assure you.
And you don’t have to worry about me referring to myself in the third person. It was just a headline. Now if I begin referring to myself with only one name, then you can worry.

Nice. So two guys from editorial are clearly looking out for number one. What are we doing to promote ourselves, girls? Watching “Rock of Love” doesn’t count. There must be a morning show or radio gig out there that would let us showcase ourselves. Get your thinking caps on.

What Iran?

We’ve got bigger fish to fry in the PCP newsroom. Our esteemed Preston Hollow reporter, Austin Kilgore, created a Wikipedia page for himself that is now being considered for deletion. Apparently the Wikipedia people frown on blatant self-promotion. This guy especially takes issue with Kilgore. I think we should host a duel.

Farrell Hits The Air Waves Again Tonight

I’m going to be on the radio again tonight, previewing the HP-Terrell match up for The Sports Fan 990 AM at 6:05. Stop in while you’re on the way to the ball game, or dinner, or whatever. 990 does a solid job previewing all the local high school football games from 6-7, and then comes back with a scoreboard show beginning at 10 p.m.

And, if you’re up that early, join me again for a segment at 8:25 a.m. Saturday morning when I help do a recap of all of Friday’s events. Same station - 990 AM - but at, yawn, 8:25 a.m. My interview, however, will not be a yawner.

Midway Hollow: So Hot Right Now

Development issues and proposals for preservation have little old Midway Hollow all over the news, and it looks like ace reporter Austin Kilgore was there first. There’s a story about it in the Dallas Business Journal today, and T.V. stations have picked it up as well. In case you missed it, get in on the pre-Preservation scramble here. This guy is not too happy about it, maybe some of you can send advice his way.

OK, that was totally false advertising, but if you tune in to the season finale of Rock of Love this Sunday (9/8c), you have a good chance of seeing Dallas native Lacey’s insanity during flashbacks and, please dear God, maybe they’ll have a reunion show. I feel like we should be live-blogging it or something. The finale is called “The Rose and the Thorn.” Poetry.

Villanova Jerk Jam

This morning I had the most frustrating Parkie induced traffic jam in at least 3 days. I was pulling out of the north parking garage exit at Park Cities Baptist Church onto Villanova to travel west. But a big jerk dropping his kid off at preschool parked on the wrong side of the road making Villanova a one lane street. And it’s not like he didn’t know what he was doing, there were cars everywhere. He even had to wait for a few vehicles to pass so that he could jet across.

It’s hard to visualize so I drew a map.

We have no doubt that several people will be upset by today’s editorial, and that an equal number will probably agree with what Lowry had to say. That’s the great thing about newspapers — we like to challenge our readers and hear what you all think about issues that shape our society. Letters to the editor are powerful things. (more…)
