Re: And the Winner Is…

An asterisk? Why?

And the winner is…

Here’s a fun tidbit for your day (that has nothing to do with Park Cities). Marc Ecko bought Barry Bonds’ 756th home run baseball, and then he gave the publicĀ  the opportunity to vote on what happens to the ball.

The options?

1. Bestow it intact to Cooperstown

2. Permanently brand the ball with an asterisk before sending to Cooperstown

3. Launch it into space

What did the public choose? (more…)

Re: Shut Up at Church

I thought people wearing poly-blends were bounced at the door.

Re: Shut Up at Church

Merritt, I never have such a problem sitting at home on my couch on Sundays watching football. (And with this post, I overcame my discretion involving religious topics with valor).

Shut Up at Church

I think I might be having such a crappy (am I allowed to use that word, Jason) week because I was not able to worship properly last Sunday.

I go to Park Cities Baptist Church and I must say this is rarely a problem but Sunday I felt like I was on Candid Camera. I kept looking around to see if my pew mates were equally as annoyed. This guy in front of us had his arm around his wife, fine. But he was rubbing her back. As if the motion itself was not distracting enough he had callused hands and the wife was wearing a poly-blend. So the sound was just a half notch below nails on a chalkboard. (more…)

Dangerous Dallas Police

As I drove into Downtown Dallas this morning, heading east on Woodall Rodgers around the St. Paul exit, I saw a police action that stunned me in the danger to which it exposed everyone, police and citizens alike. As cars whizzed by, there were two Dallas motorcycle officers standing near their bikes on the inside “shoulder” of the road. Those who travel this route will know that it isn’t really a “shoulder,” but a narrow corridor between a lane of traffic and a concrete barrier.

Suddenly, one of the officers stepped into the lane of an oncoming car which was probably traveling at more than 70 miles per hour, waved frantically at the driver to pull over, then dashed back toward the concrete barrier. The car did pull over, about 100 yards farther down the road.

This was the most irresponsible, foolish traffic control maneuver I think I’ve ever seen, putting the officers and drivers at tremendous risk. The greatest danger on Woodall Rodgers this morning wasn’t speeding drivers, it was the police.
