Thanks

Thanks, Merritt!!! : ) !!! ; ) This will be fun.

So, have any of you ever been hit by a golf ball on Preston or seen someone who has?

Re: Blood Bath on Picture Day

Uh, no, as evidenced by the current condition of my house. It looks like a frat party. I miss the clean bleach smell when I walk in the door. Now I just get a wiff of pizza boxes.

Re: Charles Geilich

Rock star Mavs tix with triple VIP parking? Hi, new best friend!

Re: Charles Geilich

That was fast. I already got the shakedown on who is the other fav e-mail friend. Besides my hubby, Parkie Kent Porter. He is my new BFF and a loyal Overheardian.

Harolds Rumors

This just in. Could it be true?

I understand that Henry S Miller is not renewing the lease for Harolds in HPV. They will be leaving at the end of 2008. Guess that being a tenant there for 30 years does not warrant any respect from HSM.

Charles Geilich

I am so happy to have Charles as a fellow blogger that I’m going to use extra punctuation!!!!!

He is a good pal and one of my favorite and funniest daily e-mail exchange partners. And he has rock star Mavs tix with triple VIP parking.

Dallas Gal on to Next Round

I’m really excited that Casey Thompson from Shinsei in Dallas made it on to the next round of “Top Chef” on Bravo. She’s in the top five, which is great, but CJ is gone and I’ll miss him. Anyway, hooray for Casey.

Re: Blood Bath on Picture Day

But the nanny’s still working, right?

Blood Bath on Picture Day

Today is picture day at UP Elementary so it took a bit longer than usual to do hair and pick out clothes. Since my nanny fell on Tuesday and broke her collar bone, I was doing my best to stay in control of the chaos and was very proud that we got out the door on time. Then it fell apart.

My daughter accidentally kicked my son in the face while loading in to the car. Gushing blood. All over everyone and everything. Screaming. Then my other daughter started a big shouting match over who was at fault and pretty soon I was in tears in my driveway, covered in blood.

Can’t wait to see the pix!

RE: Danger on Preston Road

Everyone please welcome Charles, our newest community blogger on Overheard. Feel free to e-mail him and ask him about 1) His wife, a family law judge 2) his mediation business 3) His two self-published novels 4) How exactly he snuck past security at DCC. I like to picture him being wheeled in under a pile of towels in a laundry cart.

Danger on Preston Road

In my debut post, I would like to take this opportunity to warn motorists of the danger they face when driving on Preston, between Mockingbird and Beverly.

I was recently sneaked past security at Dallas Country Club and allowed to play golf there (my first, and perhaps, last time), and was feeling pretty good about my game when I approached the first “road hole.” I then arced a magnificent slice over the ivy-covered fence and onto Preston, where I last saw my golf ball bouncing away toward Anthropoligie, narrowly missing a couple of cars. I resisted the urge to try to recover my ball.

Movie Paradise Tonight

Lone Star Drive-in, AFI Dallas, and Dallas Film Commission are sponsoring a screening of the Italian classic “Cinema Paradiso,” quite a beautiful film, outdoors at 8 p.m. tonight at Lee Park. The event is free, so bring a blanket and enjoy. Arts Fighting Cancer will also be renting chairs to raise money for its cause.

Why Merritt Wanted a “Quickie”

This week’s edition of Park Cities People, which begins hitting subscribers’ front lawns late today, includes a Bulletin From the Bubble featuring Merritt’s interview with a mistress who wanted to share a little bit of her story with our readers. What she has to say is surprising, and ultimately sad.

It’s a must read.
