TWU Wins…Sort Of

So Radar Magazine has made their list of America’s worst schools and guess what? TWU, you’re a winner!

Worst Women’s College: Texas Woman’s University

TWU is the nation’s largest college for women—or maybe just one woman, judging by the name. It is abysmally ranked in U.S. News & World Report and has Deadwood-like campus crime rates (drugs, alcohol, aggravated assault). Fewer than half the students graduate in four years.

Re: Parking at UP Elementary Rocks

You have no idea how many e-mails I have received today from people that have run the license plate number and reported back. Every one of these Overheardians has asked why I suddenly stopped posting names.

The official reason: threats. People scare me sometimes.

But I’m over it. It’s registered to a Scott W. Susens.

Re: Merritt is the Boss of Me

It was too funny to wait and I was in the bagel shop. It wouldn’t kill you to throw out a few offensive comments every so often and take the hate mail burden from me for just a few seconds. You know?

Merritt is the Boss of Me

She said I had to post this from her. It came from a frequent Overheardian, regarding the handicapped parking situation:

I can report that I didn’t see any offenders at Hyer this morning.  I did, however, see several fashion models posing as mothers behind the wheels of gigantic automobiles and a couple of dads armed with phones in their holsters, ready to go kill some cash for the family after dropping off their children at school, sensitively.

Parking at UP Elementary Rocks!

Another able-bodied mom scored a handicap parking spot at UP Elementary drop off today. License plate # 740 CVF, an Escalade registered to a resident at 4036 Purdue.

Great spot, I’m jealous!

PC Swingers

So my brother and sis-in-law were once out on a dinner date (this is before they were married) at the Hotel St. Germain. Well, the place is small and they are super-duper fun and soon they had a group of people around them, everyone drinking wine and laughing. As the evening dwindled, there was just my bro & sis-in-law and this other couple who said they were from the PC. They were very complimentary of my bro and his date and suggested they all go back to their place for more drinks. My bro and sis-in-law suddenly realized: uh, they’ve been hitting on us all night. Then the other couple said something else very, very suggestive and that’s when my bro said, wow, we’re really tired, and he and my future sis-in-law bolted out of the hotel, slightly disturbed.

Another story: apparently (and this was told to me from one of the PC’s most well-known gossip writers) there is a couple who frequents the bar at Cafe Pacific. Their purpose? Down a few cocktails while cruising for the perfect take-home companion. They’re quite well known for their swingin’ style.

Now you know.

Soul-ed Out Groundbreaking Tomorrow

So I borrowed the post headline from this press release I just got about an upcoming expansion of the Perkins School at SMU:

A $13 million expansion of facilities at SMU’s Perkins School of Theology will launch with a groundbreaking ceremony on Sept. 7. The building program includes extensive renovation of two classroom and office buildings, Kirby and Selecman halls, built in 1948 and 1952, respectively, and construction of a new building. The new 20,000-square-foot facility will be named in honor of donor Elizabeth Perkins Prothro of Wichita Falls, Texas.

The groundbreaking ceremony includes a prayer service beginning at 11 a.m. in the Perkins Chapel. Then at 11:45 there will be some sort of turning of the dirt on the grounds of the new building, 5905 Bishop Blvd.
