Wow. And you thought you had a rough day. To moms everywhere: God bless you.
Because I don’t want that previous comment to be the last thing you read today, let’s change gears. Anyone go to the carnival today?
Nevermind, this is the most disturbing thing on that website. Two words — crotchless pantaloons.
What disturbs me most is the tagline on the website promoting CDD — “Loving Wife Spanking in a Christian Marriage.” Umm…gross. Also, read further down and tell me what this means:
This site is intended for educational and entertainment purposes only and not to train readers in CDD.
I read about “Christian Domestic Discipline” in an article on Salon.com, and an Overheardian passed along an e-mail asking if this happens in Park Cities. So here’s the thing: Apparently, if you love your wife, you’ll give her regular spankings to keep her in line. It may sound kinky, but it isn’t supposed to be. She’s probably a dirty sinner if she likes it. From the website:
A Christian Domestic Discipline marriage is one that is (more…)
There is some logic to the phrase “there’s no such thing as bad publicity.”
But, if people are ripping your marketing campaign, sure, they’re talking about your football program. But I doubt it’s the kind of talk that’s going to bring new people into the stands on game day.
And why the billboards surrounding the Park Cities? Duh. I think the PC folks are already aware of SMU. How about putting some of those billboards in Plano, Allen, McKinney, Frisco, Coppell, etc.? Advertising SMU along Central and University is kind of like advertising DisneyWorld in Orlando, isn’t it?
But people are talking about SMU football, a lot. So, could it be working?Â
Our big brother blog at D Magazine has received some interesting comments regarding the SMU football marketing campaign titled “Pony Up.”
Of course, we broke the debut of the campaign’s billboards and banners a few weeks back. D was (fashionably?) late to the party, but they’re getting more feedback on the blog note than we did, especially this particular blast from one SMU alum. Ouch.
A loyal Overheardian brings us this from YouTube.
Huge news for all of last year’s UP Kindergarten students that loved Mrs. James, just heard she moved up to first grade! This is bigger than you might think. Â
Still no mail. Ernest our letter carrier is probably being trampled by kids from nearby streets.
I know of a family that was approached by the neighborhood Pre-K association reps when their child was a little younger than that (5 months old, I think). The family was freaked out, especially when the Pre-K lady told them they needed to start shaping the child so s/he could get into the “right” Pre-K. That’s a lot of pressure.
UP Elementary students receive teacher assignment cards in the mail today. The calls and e-mails from friends started rolling in earlier. Lots of screaming! It’s a big deal.
Word from the nanny is no mail yet but my kids are waiting on the first step.
More as story develops.
So a friend of the family is in the process of finding her son an appropriate pre-school. Good idea, right? THE KID IS SEVEN MONTHS OLD. Am I the only one that thinks this is a bit nuts?
Just learned that the 7th Annual Backyard Carnival benefiting Make-a-Wish Foundation has been moved from Saturday to today. The event is for kids and run by kids … and you know kids! Take your small people over to 3140 Purdue between 10-1 today and they will have a GREAT time!
