We don’t have much information about this right now. We’ve only heard that the youngster passed out at a friend’s house yesterday and died soon after at the hospital. He was an eighth-grader and the youngest of four children.
An obituary written by the founder of Park Cities People, Reid Slaughter, follows:
Even in a high energy world of teenage boys, Lucas Cole stood out.
The 13-year-old 8th grader to be was perpetual motion. Talking,
playing, urging, befriending.
Logging countless miles on his bike, Lucas was seemingly everywhere
at once which was fine to his myriad of friends who were always glad
to see him. Sadly, this potent young life came to an abrupt end last
Sunday afternoon. The bible says, “that a little child shall lead them,” and Lucas Cole
was a walking testimony to kids and adults alike with his powerful
faith. He was an enthusiastic member of Highland Park United
Methodist Church and regularly took part in Highland Park
Presbyterian’s JAM program and even took a mission trip to
Mendenhall, MS where he and his fellow teen missionaries worked in
vegetable fields harvesting crops for impoverished parishioners of a
local black church.“He was one of the most compassionate kids I’ve ever met,” said Josh
Spake, former Highland Park Presbyterian Church youth leader. “He was
a kid with one of the most purest hearts. I feel his loss
tremendously.”Lucas was the youngest member of one of the Park Cities most beloved
families. He is survived by his parents, Jane and Allen Cole; three
brothers: Alex, Davis and Wes.
