AFI- OH MY

I am certain that the folks at the AFI film festival will work out all of their kinks.  Tonight, we were invited to s special premier of the Mimsy movie.  Unfortunately, they had to turn about 100 folks away due to over crowding.  Very weird especially since you had to RSVP to the movie premier.  Oh well, they were nice enough to give everyone vouchers to any of the films during the festival which runs March 22- April 1.

SANGRIA OPENS TONIGHT

Lombardi is up to his (new) old tricks, can’t wait to try it! From Daily Candy”

“In Good Spirits…

The latest restaurant to join their foodie front lines: Sangría Tapas y Bar. Opening today, Lombardi’s newest creation has rustic wood beams and wrought-iron chandeliers. But the decor’s not the only thing that’s authentic. The ingredients used to make each dish (tons of Spanish tapas) are imported directly from the mother country.

Our recommendations include calcots a la parilla con jamon serrano (grilled spring onions with cured serrano ham), confit de pato (duck leg confit with glazed preserved cherries), and calamares fritos (crispy calamari with harissa aioli and lemon).

PARK CITIES MASSAGE THERAPIST

Looking for a massage therapist with “pretty feet” in the Park Cities where towels are optional?

I’m kind of weirded out just typing it.

MYSPACE PICKS OF THE DAY- JOEY, A DOG AND AMANDA

Joey is 19 years old and says he is employed by Park Cities Baptist Church. He says that he smokes and drinks. He has 167 “friends”. Many of them have left messages for all to see using pretty tacky language. (Further investigation reveals that he works at PCBC in janitorial services, not in a pastor-ish type role- good news!)

This Highland Park dog has a profile. Why?

Amanda is a 25 year old teller at Park Cities Bank. She says that she doesn’t think she’s attractive but claims that everyone else says she is. She’s afraid of snakes and big spiders and has been called a “tease”.

PACKED HOUSE

I live across the street from Temple Emanu-El, and I as I was leaving my house today at about 9 a.m., I noticed the temple’s parking lot was filling up in anticipation of Ray Nasher’s 10 a.m. memorial service. Police officers were guarding all the entrances, and some cars were parked on the grass already.   From the looks of things, it will be a full house and then some on hand to honor Mr. Nasher and his many contributions to our fair city.

VNA - WHEELS FOR MEALS AND MORE

Perhaps you have heard of a brand new event called Wheels for Meals and More.  The VNA (Visiting Nurse Association) in its 73 year history has never had a special event.  What an ingenious idea to create something based on what they already do.  Surely you have heard of their Meals on Wheels program where volunteers drive daily routes to deliver a hot meal to those in need.  Did you know that the VNA also provides hospice and home health care to those in need?

On March 25, Marianne and Roger Staubach (who are the most genuine, delightful people I have ever worked with) will chair this inaugural event.  Marianne is a dedicated Wheels on Meals volunteer (she drives her route every Thursday) and a VNA board member. I am grateful that the VNA secured me to consult on this one of a kind event.   Bank of America stepped up to the plate early on as presenting sponsor and the event is being held in The Park Place Porsche garage.  Shout out to Gillian Breidenbach and Christy Coltrin for all of their help!  Can I tell you that you could eat off the garage floor over there!  Bonus – TI and Hall of Fame Racing are also sponsors of this event so there is a huge NASCAR  influence and car #96 will be on-site.  The seated dinner event will feature a small live auction including box seating at the upcoming Texas Motor Speedway race.  Ladies and gentlemen, start your engines!
